HOME CARE INSTRUCTIONS FOR DENTURES

Complete and partial dentures can be used to restore lost function and improve aesthetics. Many patients adapt well to using them. To improve the retention of the denture, implants may be added to the treatment plan. We ask that you use  the following instructions for caring for your new denture.

DAILY

**Dentures MUST ALWAYS be kept moist.**

When not wearing your denture, keep it in the container provided with room-temperature water. DO NOT wrap it in a tissue or leave it on a counter where it is likely to get accidentally misplaced or thrown away.

CLEANING:

Dentures may be cleaned once or twice daily with the brush provided. Use any mild dishwashing liquid (we recommend Dial Anti-Bacterial) and brush dentures in a gentle circular motion in all areas. DO NOT USE bleach, toothpaste, or anything abrasive. Rinse thoroughly and store in container overnight. Leaving dentures out of the mouth at bedtime will allow the tissues to rest and avoid grinding at night.

FOR EXTRA STAINS AND TARTAR:

For a weekly treatment we recommend taking a cup of water and 2 Tbls. of WHITE VINEGAR (NOT RED) and soaking dentures in this solution overnight. In the morning, clean as usual and wear. We DO NOT recommend commercial cleaners like Polident of Efferdent because they are very hard on denture material. Only when dentures are heavily stained should you use a commercial cleaner, and then only then, only occasionally.
